Fastr

fastr - The flickr guessing gameIf we'd have been here a couple of years earlier, there's no doubt one of our nominations would have been for the mighty flickr. flickr is seen as one of the services at the vanguard of Web 2.0, in part for tags and community structure. One other reason is its open API which allows programmers to access the photos and data on the site. It is one new implementation of the flickr API that has caught our attention today.

fastr is a game of speed. You quickly have to guess the tag that connects the pictures being shown to you. The faster you guess, the more points you get. That's a fairly nice implementation of an old idea, but what makes this one work and standout is you're up against everyone else playing at the current time in real time leaderboard. Its pretty addictive when you see your username rising up the ranks. What's more, there's always the chance you'll see one of your images in the quiz, if you're a flickr member.
