The Answers:

1. What sort of things do you want nominated?
Anything web related that you think has the potential to become popular, to spread or to innovate. It could be something you've never seen before or a new spin on an old platform. It could be a new technology, a new service, an old service with a new concept, a unique site with a unique editorial or a blog unlike any you've seen before.

The more original the thing you're nominating the better. We're not necessarily saying its something that will grow in a massive new entity, it may stay small or go no where. However, if you think it has the potential to be new, popular and different, that's the kind of thing we want to hear about.

2. What sort of things do you not want nominated?
Stuff that doesn't fill the above criteria. If its another page on MySpace or Piczo, another splog about iPods or Lemon Law, the umpteenth Million Dollar Homepage knock-off or anything that apes other successful models with out an aspect of originality or style, then we don't want to hear about it.

3. Do we have to pay for being nominated?
Nope, no fee for being nominated. And by the same token, we can't be bribed to add unsuitable nominations either. If you have surfed in because you spotted traffic from us for being nominated, then *grab a badge from our nominees page to applaud the fact (*optional)

4. Hey! I nominated a site and it wasn't accepted - why not?
Our team didn't feel it fit in with the type of sites we want to feature. Please don't be offended and please don't try to change our minds. No correspondence into our reasoning will be entertained.

5. I don't own the site but I think it's a potential winner - can I still enter it?
Yep, please do. We'll try to contact the site owner if they're nominated just to let them know.

6. What do we win for being nominated?
Nothing. Let us make this clear. Other than bragging rights and a unique graphic there is no prize, no money involved and no claim to anything other than a few webby types appreciate your stuff.

7. What do you do with our emails and private stuff?
Its a well known fact that spammers should be thrown to the lions. We hate them and will never use your email for anything other than contacting you in relation to this site. It will not be sold, it will not be given away and it most certainly will not be spammed via third-parties. Our full privacy policy is here.

8. Can I nominate only once?
Whilst we would ask you to limit your nominations to one a month, we certainly would like you to keep nominating web things if you feel they are worthy of nomination.

9. Does it matter if I nominate my own site?
Hell no, first time I get a good idea, I'll be the first to nominate it...

10. Who are the team who decide nominations?
We are a collection of individuals who work in the industry and enjoy spotting potential trends based on our current knowledge. We don't always succeed.

11. I'm in the monthly vote - what does that mean?
At the end of each month of nominations, we select the 10 we think have the best chance of being the next big web thing. We put them into a public vote to see who the public likes best. We actively encourage you to get your visitors to vote for your site. If you want a vote for us button at thenextbigwebthing.com graphic and link to put on your site, visit the nominees page to grab one.

12. I won the monthly vote! Do I get a prize?
Other than a one off unique graphic for your site should you choose to display it, and bragging rights amongst your friends, the answer is no. There are no prizes, the judges decisions are final and this is all for fun.
